About Us

Our Philosophy

At Vitality Health Services, we provide a multi disciplinary approach to men and women’s healthcare that addresses the unique needs of each client, as much more than just an HRT clinic. We believe in a holistic approach to healthcare that considers the physical, emotional, and mental wellbeing of our clients.

Guiding Thoughts and Vision

What does “health optimization” mean to you? What do you think of when you think of your health being optimized? Does that look like feeling your best, looking your best, and living your best? That is what we aim to do at Vitality Health Services. Our goal is to make that a reality for you and our promise is to do everything we can to deliver on that goal.

At Vitality Health Services we will be monitoring your labs and health to find areas that are not optimized before those areas of health become problems. Knowledge is everything, and preventing disease before it starts is better than reacting to the problems once they occur. It’s been said, an ounce of prevention is worth more than a pound of cure, and we believe that. We are interested in you never needing either a regular physician or a handful of meds per day.

Keeping your hormones at optimal levels, for both men and women, is one of the best ways to keep you feeling your best and looking your best. We think there is much we can do to intervene with these issues whether that is recommendations for simply exercise, weight loss, improved diet and better sleep, all the way to supplementing extra bioidentical hormones back to you based on labs and any symptoms you might be experiencing.

People with optimized hormones have better musculature and body composition, which means healthier metabolisms as extra muscle handles nutrients, calories, and insulin in a way that is much more healthy and beneficial to people. Lifespan is improved and correlated with strength and maintaining it, and this requires muscle. Preventing falls when you are 80 starts with having muscle and therefore strength when you are 40. This doesn’t mean “cover of a bodybuilding magazine” levels of muscle either, but what is functional for your individual needs so you can be there for your loved ones, doing the activities you want to do, and being healthy and vigorous.

Losing weight might be the single best thing you can do for your health. But what do we mean by “losing weight?” This means losing body fat. It is the extra body fat that leads to increased whole body inflammation, insulin resistance, fatty liver disease, and poor signaling for appetite that can then lead to diabetes, cirrhosis, heart attack, and stroke. At Vitality Health Services, we have a passion for people who want to lose weight and find that traditional ways of “eat less, and move more,” simply aren’t working well for them. We think for individuals in this category, we can offer solutions to help with weight loss in the form of peptides known to assist with weight loss (fact verified by researchers’ multiple clinical trials). We feel it is best that we treat everyone as an individual and support everyone on this journey with guidance, monitoring, and individualized dosing that we don’t think others are providing.

Your mental and spiritual health are the other side of the equation for people trying to live their best lives, and we think that if you look good and your numbers on labs look good, but you don’t feel good because you’re struggling with issues like anxiety, depression, and post-traumatic stress, you can’t be living fully optimal. People dealing with these psychological issues are very common, even for those who seem like they “have it all together,” and if you’re struggling with any of these you’re not “weak” or a “bad,” you’re probably very “normal.” The thing is, working your way through these on your own is tough, and we believe that talking with a professional who can help you on this journey is not only good, but best. We believe that people feeling mentally balanced is a huge part of living to their vital maximum.

This is why we have passionately brought all of these aspects of care together into one place: Vitality Health Services, where we plan to tackle each health challenge, individually, for each client as needed and wanted. We view ourselves as partners in your journey to becoming the best you that you can be. Our goal is NOT to be your typical stuffy healthcare professionals, but your guides on this journey and, if we may be so bold and dare we say…friends…along the way.

We appreciate your interest and trust and hope it all resonates with you because that’s what we believe.

Meet Our Clinic Providers and Professionals

Joshua Holweger, MD

I grew up watching my father run his private practice and take care of patients in a small town in western Kansas.  And I think from my earliest times, I knew that I too was going to be a doctor.  I spent a few years toying with the idea of being a researcher in the biological sciences, but my undergraduate mentor thought I would be a good doctor.  He thought it was good with people, even though I’m naturally introverted, and made calls and wrote letters on my behalf to get me into medical school.  I completed my medical school education at Loma Linda University in Southern California.  My residency training was done in internal medicine at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska and my fellowship training was done in pulmonary and critical care medicine at the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities.  Since completing my training I have had the privilege and honor to take care of patients in the pulmonary clinic and the intensive care unit (ICU) in the Boise, Idaho area for more than a decade.

Watching my patient’s struggle in their health journeys really led me to begin thinking and looking much closer at those things that keep people optimal and living well.  Most of the time by the time you’re meeting me in the pulmonary clinic or the ICU the damage has been done, usually irreversibly.  This got me to thinking that perhaps there was a way to begin helping people live healthier and better so that they never needed to see a doctor like me.  I’m convinced that exercise, including cardiovascular and resistance training are the keys to staving off the weight gain and muscle loss that signal the metabolic derangements (syndromes) that lead to chronic disease and eventually not only poor health but also frailty and low quality of life.  My goals are to therefore meet people in that space before they ever get sick, assisting with weight loss and the preservation of muscle, often with the use of peptides for losing fat and optimizing hormone levels with medication in those men and women who are symptomatically low in testosterone or perimenopause/menopause, respectively.

There isn’t much that makes me feel better as a doctor, than seeing people lose weight, put on muscle, improve lipids and cardiac and pre-diabetes markers, feel better, look better, and become more vital and confident in their daily living.  And that’s why I do what I do with Vitality Health Services.

Only tell life your dreams and plans if your ready or willing to take an uphill battle that may lead you sideways. I found the gym earlier in life and used it as a coping mechanism for years. Frustrations, hurt, happiness was all left on the gym floor until there was nothing left every night with a few buddies.

Those intense training sessions were the start of an understanding what it means to push the limits with another brother. It became the fabric of a work ethic that I still use today. I’ve worked in high stress jobs that were both physically and emotionally demanding. The thing about those jobs is what they take from you, you get three fold in return. What happens though when the balance is off? Where does someone go when faith, companionship, and compassion start to fade. How do we recenter ourselves physically, emotionally, hormonally when life takes a little more than we expected?

I have a few beliefs in what I need and what other men need for their physical and mental health. I think a man needs to take care of something living, there needs to be a space for that kindness, nurturing and protection. I think he needs to accomplish a prideful task daily. Not any menial task, but one he can be proud of. You have to build something, complete something that is tangible. I have to be able to admire my own accomplishments and believe everyone should. Man needs to stress the body physically he needs a controllable vice, drink 12 cups of coffee a day, throw three dips in at once, eat too many sweets, and something he can focus his negative energy towards. I think a man needs a mountain to climb or an enemy to conquer. A quest that takes pain, sacrifice, and suffering.

Finding love starts with an internal perception, his external appearance is a direct reflection of his self worth. Go too far though and the external appearance shows there’s no work being done internally. His ability to assimilate into different social groups is essential for his feelings of acceptance. Acknowledgments of every and all insecurities, paired with gratitude and appreciation of non materialistic things.

Lastly man needs a space and designated time to be free frequently. Free from watchful eyes, judgmental views and external stimulus. Vitality Health Services was built on these principles and is focused on taking in clients and turning them into friends, brothers, sisters, and colleagues, with a focus on a better community.

I’ve been beyond blessed to watch this small dream change and grow into something bigger than I could of ever imagined. I’ve had more help along the way than I could of ever asked for. Sometimes that’s all we need is a little help, I can confidently say that at Vitality Health that’s what we are committed to do.

I had an old cowboy give one of his last quotes before he passed.

“If life and bed only had a saddle horn, he could give it a jerk and readjust them both and feel better”

Tim Hoekstra

I have served clients over the last 33 years who have struggled with substances and other addictions, depression, anxiety, trauma, grief and loss, post-traumatic stress, bi-polar disorders, ADHD, relationship intimacy, and personal development challenges, such as self-esteem, body image, value clarification, social connections, and religion/spiritual development.  Conflict and malaise can be interrelated with areas of life being out of balance, which is one of the many reasons Vitality Health Services offers mental health optimization support

Fortunately, we are moving into a social development phase of our society where mental health needs are being discussed more openly.  It has never ceased to amaze me how growth in personal insight, communication, and openness to learning about ourselves and others leads to a more optimal life.

Part of my own journey toward better wellness has been the discovery of how my physical and mental health are deeply intertwined.  Having experienced very low energy, low libido, and depression for several years, I decided to ask my primary care doctor if he could look into my testosterone and cortisol levels and see if there were any issues.  My doctor read my labs and said without offering any remedy; “Yep, your testosterone is quite low, and your cortisol level is high”.

Today, I feel more alive than ever with the aid of hormone optimization and better diet.  I have been into body building all my life and a collegiate athlete in volleyball, but I had an unfulfilled dream to compete in a body building contest when I was around 21–“life got in the way”.  I competed in my first bodybuilding competition at the age of 52 in June 2024, and I had the best experience getting ready and going on stage.  My wife and I enjoy our time at the gym together, my kids are active and leading lives that puts a smile on my face most days.

I am very blessed to call my business partners, Josh Holweger and Josh Irving, my best friends!  These guys are amazing people, and they are second to none in their pursuit of clinical knowledge for the betterment of our clients.

Time goes by no matter what, so why not achieve our goals in that time instead of watching from the sidelines.
